NRM official handover of LBSC 46924 to IWSR

In 1978 the National Railway Museum returned the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway ‘cattle wagon’ No. 46924 to the Island on a long term loan to the Isle of Wight Steam Railway.

On Saturday 6th June 2015 Andrew McLean, Head Curator at the NRM formally handed ownership of the wagon over from the National Collection, to the Isle of Wight Steam Railway.

Ownership of the original nameplates from locomotives ‘Newport’ and ‘Calbourne’ were also handed over to the Steam Railway. Andrew McLean explained how keen the NRM are to work closely with preserved railways such as ours.
