Peter Taylor Joins the Board

Appointment of new IWSR Director Announced

Peter Taylor
Pride of Bangbourne

Jerry Oakey recently resigned as a Director of the Railway. Jerry’s engineering expertise was of considerable value and this area of knowledge is now bolstered by Peter Taylor who the Board recently resolved to co-opt as a Director.

Peter is an Islander who first joined the Wight Locomotive Society in 1967. He had a 35 year career as a transport professional and in 2011 took early retirement from his position as a senior manager with Highways & Transport division of the Isle of Wight Council. Peter is the passionate owner of the 1899 Wallis & Steevens traction engine ‘Pride of Bangbourne’ and in addition to volunteering within our Engineering Department is a passed fireman. Peter compiles the Locomotive Workshop Files for Island Rail News and is one of our new Website Co-ordinators.

Peter is a welcome addition to the Railway’s Board of Directors.
