Steam Show Train Services

During the August Bank Holiday Summer Steam Show the Isle of Wight Steam Railway operated an intensive two-train service over the Smallbrook Junction to Wootton line, the frequent service being a necessity to move the large crowds traveling to and from the show. This year the trains were hauled by 130-year-old 'Terrier' W8 'Freshwater' and recently restored 'Austerity' WD192 'Waggoner'. 'Freshwater' was in charge of the Railway's unique 5-coach set of Victorian 4-wheeled coaches, restored to working order at Havenstreet from their previous uses as holiday homes and farm outbuildings, whilst 'Waggoner' was at the head of a rake of 4 ex LB&SCR and SE&CR bogie vehicles, the most modern of which was constructed in 1924!
