'CALBOURNE' BOILER REPAIR UPDATE - JULY 2008

Extensive repairs to the boiler of 1891-built London & South Western Railway 02 Class No.W24 'Calbourne' are continuing at the London & North Western Railway Works. Following another trip to Crewe to inspect progress, Isle of Wight Steam Railway CME Len Pullinger has supplied these pictures. If the current rate of progress is maintained it is possible that the boiler may be ready to return to Havenstreet sometime later this year. Meanwhile, work continues on the repair of the other parts of 'Calbourne' in the railway's Havenstreet Mechanical Engineering Workshop. The appeal to raise funds to cover the cost of 'Calbourne's boiler repair remains open. Details HERE
