The majority of the DREG members arrived on the IWSR at Smallbrook Junction Station having taken the opportunity to take a journey to Shanklin in Island Line 483 Class '1938 Stock' unit 007, recently restored to its original maroon London Transport livery. After travelling to Havenstreet by the regular service train hauled by Hunslet 'Austerity' WD198 'Royal Engineer' the diesel enthusiasts joined their special train, powered by D2059 and comprising of the Isle of Wight Steam Railway's award winning Victorian Train, consisting of LCDR and LBSCR 4-wheeled carriages restored from dereliction to immaculate condition in the Railway's workshops.

After a round trip of the railway many of the DREG party took the opportunity of a brake van ride in Havenstreet Station limits powered by Class 05 D2554, known as 'Nuclear Fred' since its transfer to the Isle of Wight to power electrification works trains in 1966. Following a highly successful and entertaining day out on the Isle of Wight Steam Railway the DREG party returned to the mainland in the late afternoon.
