Visitor Facilities Upgraded

The Isle of Wight Steam Railway has invested in further improvements to visitor facilities at Havenstreet Station. A major extension to the railway restaurant, 'Granny Winter's Pantry' will provide much needed additional seating and public toilet facilities. Construction work is now well underway and will be completed in the next few months.
At the station entrance the booking office, converted from the Smithards Lane, Cowes, crossing keepers hut in the 1970s, has now been replaced with a new, slightly larger structure which will enable the booking staff to deal more efficiently with the large numbers of visitors often experienced on busy days. The new structure is now complete apart from minor landscaping work still to be finished to the rear of the building.
