The Isle of Wight Steam Railway will be holding a Volunteers and Members Day at Havenstreet Station on Saturday 18th March 2006. The day's programme of events will feature a special train service and a 'Volunteers Meeting' chaired by recently appointed General Manager Peter Vail - the initial announcement of the event can bee seen HERE

It is now known that the special train service will give members an opportunity to travel behind recently overhauled Barclay 0-6-0T No.W38 'Ajax'. Further details of the evening's social activities have also emerged; there will be a ‘Pub Quiz Night’ organised by Steve and Marie Oates, ably assisted by Steve Castle. The organisers have promised to make the quiz as fun as possible with rounds on everything from general knowledge to past happenings and occurrences at the IW Steam Railway!! - perhaps those members still in possession of the notorious Winter 1975 edition of the 'Wight Report' (aka the 'Black Report'?) should remind themselves of the content of the 'PW Lament'!

Steam Show Beer Festival Manager Derek Bishop be running a bar dispensing the 'Real Stuff' - he promises that some 'proper tackle' will be available - whatever that means! Don't forget that food will be available from Granny Winter's Pantry up until 8.00pm.

The Volunteers and Members Day will be an excellent opportunity for all members, staff and their families to get together, renew old acquaintances and review the railway's continuing progress. Please remember to bring your Membership or Railway ID card which will be required to gain entry to Havenstreet Station.
