Her Majesty The Queen will be visiting the Isle of Wight Steam Railway on Wednesday 19th May 2004 and will officially open the newly constructed Carriage & Wagon Workshop, built with the aid of a Heritage Lottery Fund grant.
Members of the public who wish to come along
to either Wootton or Havenstreet Stations to see The Queen are most
welcome to do so without charge.
The Queen will arrive at Wootton Station by road at 1130am and will
travel to Havenstreet Station by Royal Train, arriving at 1140am. She
will then tour the station before officially opening the new Carriage
& Wagon Workshop at 1200 noon. She will depart Havenstreet Station
by road at 1210pm.
If you wish to come to either station, please arrive no later than 1100am.
For security reasons there will be no admission to the Stations after
1115am. For passengers intending to arrive via Island Line electric
train service, the only IWSR Smallbrook Junction departure prior to
the Royal Visit will be at 1053am.

After The Queen has left the Railway, an enhanced, two-train service, comprising the 'Royal Train' and the 'Normal Service' train, will operate throughout the afternoon with departures every 30 minutes from Havenstreet Station. Reduced prices will be in operation for the day: Train 1 ('Royal Train'), 1st Class only, Adults £10.00, Children free. Train 2 ('Normal Service' train), 3rd Class travel, Adults £7.00, Children free. These fares allow unlimited travel on the day.
The 'Royal Train' will be made up of the Isle of Wight Steam Railway's award wining rake of immaculately restored Victorian 4-wheeled carriages headed by 1876 built LB&SCR A1x 'Terrier' class No.W8 'Freshwater'. Hunslet 'Austerity' No.WD 198 'Royal Engineer' will haul the 'Normal Service' train which will consist of LB&SCR and SE&CR bogie carriages.
