IVATT 41313 PREPARES TO MOVE

Ivatt Class 2 2-6-2T No.41313 went over the wheeldrop at Havenstreet on Wednesday 11th June 2008 to allow the cause of a tight axle box in the horns to be investigated. The move is in preparation for clearance trials on the Havenstreet to Smallbrook Junction section of the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. 41313 was towed to Wootton for clearance trials last year.

41313 was purchased from Woodhams Scrapyard in Barry, South Wales by the Ivatt Trust in1975 and moved to the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre, Quainton Road. It was initially intended that 41313 would act as a source of spare parts for sister engine 41298, also owned by the trust. It was eventually decided that the engine should be restored to working order, the trustees choosing the Isle of Wight Steam Railway as a suitable location for 41313's future operation. She was moved to Havenstreet in August 2006 where she is undergoing a thorough assessment to determine the work required to return her to traffic.

41313 stands opposite sister engine 41298, also due to move to the Isle of Wight once returned to working order.
