Final preparations for the 31st Island Steam Show are now well advanced, the Show Team have constructed the show arena and are now busy preparing the infrastructure necessary to receive the many steam and other vintage vehicles which are due to begin arriving on Tuesday. The work will continue at a hectic pace to ensure that all is ready for the grand opening of the Show on Friday morning.

In their quest to offer an ever-improving line up the organising team have brought two brand new arena events to the Havenstreet show this year: the thrilling UKFMX Freestyle Motocross Display Team and the exciting Rockwood Dog Display Team. In addition to the magnificent line up of steam powered vehicles there will be veteran and vintage vehicles of all shapes and sizes including military vehicles, motorcycles and agricultural machinery.

There will be a rare chance to experience the power of working steam as many of the engines are put through their paces providing the motive power for the saw bench, stone crusher and other long forgotten equipment and the opportunity for the kids to join in with our famous Traction Engine Games in the main arena. All members of the family will love the spectacular and colourful Gallopers, forming the centrepiece of the vintage fairground. By popular demand the comic duo of Haurel and Lardey will be on hand to entertain our visitors.

Our famous Real Ale Festival will once again be offering over 40 tasty traditional beers from around the country. This years selection has a nautical theme to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar and features such excellent ales as Ventnor Brewery Red Admiral Bitter, Trafalgar 200 from Gales of Horndean and Admirals Reserve by Woodfordes of Norfolk.

The Isle of Wight Steam Railway will be operating an intensive train service to bring mainland visitors to the show. A two train service will be in operation on all four Show days, giving a departure from Smallbrook Junction, the railway's interchange station with Island Line, every thirty minutes. It is expected the the trains will be hauled by 129-year-old A1x 'Terrier' Class No.W8 'Freshwater' and Hunslet 'Austerity' No.WD198 'Royal Engineer'.
This years Island Steam Show promises to be the best ever in the events 31-year history, theres no better place to be on August Bank Holiday weekend!
