TA 100 - LOCAL ARMY VOLUNTEER UNIT VISITS THE IWSR
Members of the Isle of Wight's Territorial Army Unit, 266 (Volunteer) Port Squadron of the Royal Logistic Corps, visited the Isle of Wight Steam Railway on 10th May 2008 as part of an event to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Territorial Army. The volunteer soldiers had walked from the Needles Pleasure Park to Wootton Station and then boarded a train to Havenstreet to be greeted by local VIPs including Isle of Wight High Sheriff and TV personality Alan Titchmarsh, Lord Lieutenant of the Isle of Wight Maj Gen Martin White and Island MP Andrew Turner.

The Isle of Wight Steam Railway has a connection with the Royal Logistic Corps via it's two 'Austerity' steam locomotives 'Royal Engineer' and 'Waggoner', both of which were originally operated by predecessors of the current Corps.
