ANOTHER MAINLAND VISIT FOR 'FRESHWATER'

The Isle of Wight Steam Railway has announced that it's 1876-built A1x 'Terrier' locomotive No.W8 'Freshwater' will be taking another trip to the mainland this spring to appear in the Kent & East Sussex Railway's 'Colonel Stephens Weekend' Railway Gala, taking place between 5th and 7th May 2007. 'Freshwater' arrives at Kingscote Station, Bluebell Railway, during the November 2006 'Terrier Weekend'

This will be 'Freshwater's second mainland visit in recent months, she appeared at the Bluebell Railway's 'Terrier Weekend' last autumn. Making the most of her time on the mainland, 'Freshwater' will also be making an appearance at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard for the 'Celebration of Steam' weekend, 12th and 13th May 2007.

'Freshwater' is prepared for service at Havenstreet - 31st December 2006.

W8 is currently undergoing routine maintenance, including a partial repaint, at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway's Havenstreet Mechanical Engineering Workshop. Subject to serviceability, she will be hauling IWSR trains throughout the Easter Bank Holiday weekend before being prepared for her trip overseas. During the IWSR's 2007 operating season she will be sharing the passenger duties with WD No.192 'Waggoner', W37 'Invincible' and W38 'Ajax'. For full details of the fleet visit the Locomotives pages.
