WHERE ARE WE

Getting to the Isle of Wight Steam Railway is easy!

Travelling By Car  Enter PO33 4DS into your SatNav or head for Havenstreet (3 miles from Ryde and 3 miles from Newport) and look for signs to Havenstreet or Steam Railway. Havenstreet Station has a large FREE car park. The only other station with parking facilities is Wootton. There is no road access to Ashey Station and no road or pedestrian access to Smallbrook Junction Station.

By Train  Island Line electric trains serve Ryde, Brading, Sandown, Lake and Shanklin. These stop at Smallbrook Junction station on Isle of Wight Steam Railway operating days only.

Double your holiday fun with an Island Liner ticket. Enjoy a day's unlimited travel on Island Line electric trains as well as on the Steam Railway. Island Liner tickets are available from any manned Island Station or on the train. There is a convenient interchange between the two railways at Smallbrook Junction.

By Bus  Havenstreet station is not served by a public bus service. Wootton station is served by Service 9 - route via Staplers (operated by Southern Vectis)

For Visitors travelling from the Mainland

There's a choice of public transport, either with or without your car. On foot from Portsmouth take the Wightlink Catamaran Service or Hovercraft to Ryde, then Island Line train to Smallbrook. On foot from Southampton take the Redjet to Cowes then bus to Wootton or Havenstreet. With a car there are car-ferry services from Portsmouth to Fishbourne, Southampton to East Cowes and Lymington to Yarmouth.

Once on the Island, simply enter PO33 4DS into your SatNav or head for Havenstreet (3 miles from Ryde and 3 miles from Newport) and look for signs to Havenstreet or Steam Railway.

We are Only 45 minutes from Portsmouth Harbour!

For Mainland visitors, travelling to us from Portsmouth Harbour could not be easier! The short crossing by Wightlink high speed catamaran to Ryde Pier Head and the Island Line electric train journey to Smallbrook Junction (the cross-platform interchange station with the Isle of Wight Steam Railway), only takes about 45 minutes!

Foot passengers may purchase a through ticket from the Wightlink Booking Office at Portsmouth Harbour station. This all day ticket includes the return Catamaran journey, plus unlimited travel for the day on Island Line's Ryde-Shanklin trains and on the Isle of Wight Steam Railway.

Isle of Wight Steam Day Rover

Through tickets are available from most staffed railway stations in London and the South East. Just ask for the "Isle of Wight Steam Day Rover" ticket at your local station, and leave the car at home. The ticket covers the return rail journey to Portsmouth Harbour, the catamaran to Ryde and a day's unlimited travel on Island Line & the Steam Railway.
